Why use oleo-limestone liniment for changing a baby?

First of all, what is oleo-lime liniment?

It is simply a natural cleansing milk, very practical for replacing the use of disposable wipes or replacing a cleansing water that, while smelling good, often has a composition that is (paradoxically) aggressive for the delicate skin of babies.

Its ancestral recipe comes from Provence (France) and has been used for generations to clean babies' bottoms during diaper changes or to wash their faces.

Traditionally, the composition of oleo-lime liniment is very simple: a mixture of olive oil and lime water in equal parts, often stabilized with beeswax.

A saponification reaction results from the mixture of oil with lime water (it’s the same process used to make soap).

Like soap, liniment will eliminate impurities, without irritating or drying out the skin and its greasy texture will allow stools to be easily removed.

What are the benefits of liniment?

Liniment is a multifunctional care product that allows you to clean your baby's bottom during diaper changes, to perform face washing, to help remove cradle cap thanks to its emollient properties, and even to hydrate the driest skin.

In its most common use, that is, during diaper changes, liniment will protect your child's bottom from the acidity of urine because its pH is alkaline. Perfect for preventing diaper rashes, which are favored by maceration in urine.

No more 3-4 products on the changing table, a single bottle of liniment meets multiple needs. It is natural and also economical.

How to use liniment during diaper changes?

Cleaning with pure water + liniment:

After opening your child's diaper, start by cleaning the bottom with water and a cotton pad to remove urine and most of the stools (starting from the pubis and then going towards the buttocks and not the other way around to avoid moving dirt and risking a urinary infection).

Then apply liniment using a new cotton pad to perfect the cleaning and remove any stuck stools if necessary. Wipe away the excess if there is a large amount left.

Pourquoi essuyer ?

And the Eliott & Eloée liniment?

For The Liniment, we use traditional Provence olive oil and lime water. To this mixture, we have chosen to add local oils of hazelnut, camelina, and pumpkin seeds whose protective and soothing power is recognized in botany.

These oils are organic and cold-pressed and are particularly recommended for sensitive, dry, or damaged skin.

With The Liniment Eliott & Eloée, you provide extra care for your child.

Beyond hygiene, we can only recommend using quality diapers, as industrial as possible, which will also guarantee you less skin irritation.
